There have been several reactions from social media users after the Labour Party LP candidate in the Lagos state 2023 governorship election, Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour advised the administration of Babajide Sanwo-Olu on what to do to control the flooding problems in Lagos.

His statement is coming after some parts of the state were flooded on Wednesday.

In the post that he shared on his page, he said Lagos state can apply either the G-Can system in Tokyo or the system of dykes in the Netherlands as solution.

He said the reason why the issue is occuring is because most parts of Lagos state had been planned in the 60s, 70s and 80s. He said when the government built the Macgregor canal in 1903, they showed forward thinking.

Here is what Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour wrote on his page;

"In the absence of forward thinking innovative solutions to the flooding problems in Lagos state, this thread is worth sharing again. The G-Can system in Tokyo and the system of dykes in the Netherlands are references we can emulate. Bare in mind that most parts of Lagos had been planned in the 60s, 70s and 80s. At least in 1903, when the government built the Macgregor canal in lagos, they showed forward thinking".

After he made the statement, there were comments from some social media users.
