"Ban Stealing Too" Gachagua's Man Kahiga Tells Ruto Hours After Making This Announcement

Nyeri County Governor Mwalimu Mutahi Kahiga has asked President William Ruto to act with same power to ban stealing in his government, just the way he has banned public servants and state officials from participating in Harambees.

Speaking during a funeral service of former member of parliament Maina Wanjigi in Nyeri, just hours after President William Ruto made the announcement, Kahiga said that the president should do well to address stealing of public funds that is currently happening in his administration.

Mwalimu Kahiga, who is a close ally of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua added that he prays that the President's ban of Harambees to a serious on, and not a cosmetic one.

"I am glad the President has just banned Harambees. I pray that is not cosmetic. Ban the stealing too because people are stil stealing." He said

Kahiga who has been a strong defender of DP Gachagua amid fall out with his boss President William Ruto, added that he will not sit and watch leaders doing what is wrong, his political party not withstanding.

"It is wrong for us to keep quiet if men and women are doing what is not right. I therefore will not stand aside and watch you doing wrong , whether I am wearing yellow or not." He added

Kahiga's message to Ruto comes barely hours after the Head Of State, while addressing the nation from StateHouse on Friday said that going forward, public servants and state officials will not be allowed to participate in Harambees.

"No state officers of public servants shall participate public fundraisers or Harambes going forward. The Attorney General is hereby directed to prepare and submit legislation to this effect and develop a mechanism for structured contribution for public, charitable and philanthropic purposes." He said
