Sad Moment as Braai Stand Allegedly Kills Three Boys in Limpopo

Police in Mankweng are investigating an inquest docket following a tragic incident where three boys, aged between 14 and 22, were found dead in their bedroom on the morning of Friday, 05 July 2024, in Morongoa Park, Ga-Mothiba.

The police were summoned to the scene and upon arrival discovered the lifeless bodies of the three boys. Preliminary investigations revealed that the boys, who shared a bedroom, had gone to sleep on Thursday, 04 July 2024, around 21:00, bringing a braai stand with fire-coals into their room.

Tragedy struck the following morning when, at approximately 05:00, their family found the boys motionless. Emergency services and police were immediately called, but sadly, the boys were certified dead at the scene.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has issued a stark warning to the community about the dangers of using braziers or similar fire sources inside homes, rooms, or sleeping spaces, especially during the cold winter months.

This heartbreaking incident underscores the deadly risks associated with bringing open fire sources into enclosed spaces. It serves as a tragic reminder of the importance of safety precautions during winter, where the need for warmth must be balanced with the risks of carbon monoxide poisoning and fire hazards.

As investigations continue, the community of Morongoa Park is left mourning the sudden loss of these three young lives, a stark reminder of the silent dangers that can lurk in seemingly benign actions.
