Kirinyaga Governor goes by the name, Anne Mumbi Waiguru. She took over the reins of the governor after winning the seat during the 2017 general elections. Anne Waiguru profile shows that she was born in Pumwani; however, her rural home is at Kirinyaga County, Gichugu sub-County.

According to Anne Waiguru cv, she attended Nairobi River Primary School in Buruburu, before proceeding to Precious Blood Secondary School, Riruta and then to Moi Forces Academy. As Anne Waiguru Facebook records, she enrolled at Egerton University for her Bachelor degree. Waiguru later joined the University of Nairobi for her Masters in Economic Policy and Planning. The formers Devolution CS Anne Waiguru loves dancing, reading and travelling. She was re-elected to office as Governor for her second 5-year term in the elections that were held on 9 August 2022. Previously, she served as the first Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Devolution and Planning. She was nominated by the former President Uhuru Kenyatta to the position on 25 April 2013.



Sabina Chege 

Chege was born in 1972 in Murang’a County.She attended Kinyona Primary School before proceeding to Mugori Girls High School for her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), where she sat her final exams in 2000

Sabina Chege holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education Studies from the University of Nairobi. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Communication studies.

Between 2002 and 2005, she worked as a presenter at Kameme FM, a Kikuyu radio station. In 2005, Chege quit Kameme and joined Communication Firm Space Africa as the Regional manager. In 2007, she joined Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), where she worked as the Programs Controller. 

Sabina Chege was featured in popular Benga musician, the late John De' Mathew's music album. She featured in the video 'Njata Yakwa' (You are my Star). The video elicited speculations with claims that Chege was dating the musician, something she has since denied vehemently. 

She was elected to the National Assembly as a women's representative for Muranga County in 2013 with 96.6% of the vote. She was a member of the National Alliance party. In the 2017 general election, she was re-elected, now as a member of the Jubilee Party.

The Jubilee party was formed in 2016 as a successor to the Jubilee Alliance, a coalition of several political parties including Chege's National Alliance party.In her first term in parliament she was chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Education, Research & Technology and a member of the Constitutional Implementation Oversight Committee. Since 2017 she has served as chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Health.
