Former Edo State Governor and current Senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, has called for strict measures against those sabotaging the Dangote Refinery.

Daily Trust reported that at a public lecture in Abuja themed "Nigeria Yesterday, Today, and a Prosperous Future," Oshiomhole suggested capital punishment for individuals disrupting the refinery's operations, arguing that these actions harm Nigeria's economy.

The Dangote Refinery, Africa's largest oil facility, has faced difficulties securing local crude oil. Oshiomhole claims the refinery, owned by Aliko Dangote, struggles due to preferential treatment for European exports over local industries.

He insists that those responsible for these practices should face severe consequences to protect Nigeria's economic future.

He also noted ongoing efforts in the Senate to review the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) to address regulatory concerns in Nigeria's oil and gas sector. This legislative review aims to streamline operations and ensure fair resource distribution, essential for economic growth and a prosperous future.

He stressed the need for presidential intervention to enforce these measures effectively, highlighting the importance of leadership committed to transformative change.

Oshiomhole believes that decisive action against economic sabotage is crucial for safeguarding Nigeria's economic interests and promoting sustainable development.

In his words, "They prefer to import it to Europe and leave Dangote to import its crude from America into Nigeria. Those guys deserve to be hanged."

"If we don’t hang them, they will hang all of us. What it takes to hang them will require a president with extraordinary change."
