Niger Delta stakeholders, ex-agitators hail Asari Dokubo at 60

According to a report by Vanguard News, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has officially recognized Mujahid Asari Dokubo as the Amayanabo of Torusarama Piri, Elem Kalabari.

The governor presented him with a staff of office and a certificate of recognition as a traditional ruler in Degema Local Government Area.

The recognition of Dokubo as a monarch has been praised by the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, describing it as a crucial and divine development for the Ijaw people in Rivers State and beyond.

IYC spokesperson, Amb. Binebai Princewill, hailed Dokubo’s contributions as a former IYC president and a leader in the Niger Delta's struggle for justice, resource control, and self-determination.

In a statement, Princewill emphasized Dokubo’s unwavering commitment to defending the rights of the Ijaw people and addressing injustices in Rivers State and the Niger Delta region.

He expressed confidence that Dokubo’s leadership as a traditional ruler would bring new opportunities for the Ijaw nation and the Niger Delta, as he collaborates with other traditional rulers to negotiate better conditions for his people.

The IYC also commended Governor Fubara for recognizing Dokubo and other traditional rulers in Rivers State, describing it as a positive step toward fostering unity and development in the region.

The council extended its congratulations to all monarchs who received staff of office and certificates of recognition on the same day as Dokubo.

Princewill called on all Ijaw sons and daughters and residents of Rivers State to support Governor Fubara’s administration as it continues to drive transformation in the state.

He highlighted the governor’s exceptional leadership and commitment to improving the welfare of the people.
