A recent incident in which a state legislator was nearly killed with an SUV he received as a gift has sparked widespread outrage and renewed calls for restructuring in Nigeria. Dr. Akin Fapohunda, a member of the Eminent Elders Forum, has added his voice to the growing chorus of discontent, urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take decisive action and address the grievances of the people before the next election.

In an interview with Arise News, Dr. Fapohunda expressed concern over the growing discontent among Nigerians, citing the legislator's SUV gift as a symbol of the country's larger problems. "The people are not happy with the National Assembly", he said.

Dr. Fapohunda's comments come as Nigerians increasingly demand better governance and accountability from their leaders. The Eminent Elders Forum is urging President to take concrete steps to address the country's pressing issues, including inequality and political disenfranchisement.

In his words;

"In my own state, one Legislator went home with SUV, he was nearly killed with the SUV, the masses are not happy with the National Assembly. Change have to come before the next election absolutely. The president has to do the needful to see reasons with Nigerians and put his name on the marble of time"
