Wike:His Masquerade Has Penetrated PDP's Bone Marrow, they could be forced into a Merger -Ex-VON DG
According to a report from The Guardian on Friday, February 14, Former Director-General of Voice of Nigeria, Osita Okechukwu, disclosed on Thursday that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faces potential restructuring due to internal conflicts primarily linked to former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike's influence.
During a media briefing in Abuja, Okechukwu elaborated on how the PDP's deviation from zoning principles has created lasting damage. "The emergence of what I call the 'Wike Masquerade' has penetrated deeply into PDP's bone marrow, making recovery particularly challenging," Okechukwu stated.
The APC chieftain emphasized the severity of the party's internal crisis: "PDP's decision to abandon the power rotation agreement has created a fracture that appears irreparable. This miscalculation has fundamentally altered their party structure and unity."
Supporting APC National Chairman Dr. Umar Ganduje's recent statements, Okechukwu noted, "The opposition's current state stems directly from their 2023 electoral decisions. Their internal conflicts have significantly weakened their position as an opposition force."
Discussing potential outcomes, Okechukwu predicted: "Given the current trajectory, the PDP might need to consider a merger, similar to how the Action Congress of Nigeria merged previously. The party's foundation has been severely compromised."
Addressing economic concerns, he expressed optimism about President Tinubu's administration: "Our international diplomatic engagements are yielding positive results. The government has initiated strategic economic reforms that will attract substantial foreign investments."
"The administration's focus on strengthening global partnerships has already opened channels for foreign direct investments and international cooperation," Okechukwu added, highlighting the government's efforts to secure development funding and economic partnerships.
He concluded that these economic initiatives, combined with diplomatic strategies, position the administration favorably for addressing national economic challenges through international collaboration and investment opportunities.
