Some people Are not prepared for the war you see on the street- Adam Oshiomole
As Nigeria faces a severe hunger and inflation crisis, protests have erupted nationwide, reflecting the growing frustration of the populace. Adams Oshiomole, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has made a stark warning to Nigerians amidst these turbulent times.
In a recent statement, Oshiomole cautioned, "some people are not prepared for the war you see on the street." His remarks underline the gravity of the situation and the potential for escalating conflict if the unrest continues unchecked.
Oshiomole emphasised the constitutional constraints on calls for regime change, saying, "They want regime change. And I said, you cannot peacefully demand that because the constitution forbids you to make demands that are unlawful within the position of the constitution. The only legitimate way for those who lost elections, is to wait for the next round of elections. Until then, there is nothing they can do. If they seek to short-circuit the system, there will be a problem."
He highlighted the dangers of encouraging protests without considering the legal and societal responsibilities. "War should begin to see the voices of two major defeated presidential candidates backing a protest, including those who used to lecture me about hoodlum hijacking process, now talking about the right of people to protest. But they didn't emphasise the responsibility. I knew clearly that whereas there is genuine hunger, whereas there is an unacceptable level of unemployment, whereas there is obviously genuine frustration, the middle class is also agonising; there's no question about that."
