The Minister of Works, David Umahi, rebukes former Vice President of Nigeria, Abubakar Atiku, for his criticism of the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project.

Umahi's spokesperson accuses Atiku of having misguided thoughts driven by political motives rather than genuine concerns for the project's transparency and execution.

The minister dismisses Atiku's allegations of opacity, violations of procurement laws, and conflicts of interest, describing them as false analogies, hypocritical, and politically motivated.

Umahi asserts that Atiku's criticisms are unfounded, self-serving, and aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the government and the project in question.

He portrays Atiku's statements as attempts to mislead the public, particularly those who may be easily influenced by such accusations.

The minister suggests that Atiku's views lack depth and are driven by personal ambition rather than a genuine interest in addressing the issues related to the Lagos-Calabar highway project.

According to Arise News, Umahi said, “Such viewpoints are false analogies, conceived by the fertile imaginations of the former vice president and which are clearly superficial, hypocritical, diversionary, and undoubtedly motivated by ambitious political calculations.

“These accusations or rather, viewpoints, are, to say the least, intrinsically superficial, baseless, self-serving and politically motivated to imprint malice in the minds of unsuspecting members of the public, especially the gullible."
