Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, has given his take on state policing in Nigeria.

In recent times, several political leaders have recommended the use of state policing to tackle insecurity across the country, while others have condemned the proposal, giving their various reasons.

However, in a video posted by Channels Television, the FCT minister, Wike, opposed the creation of state policing, expressing his concerns about the possible misuse of power by state governors.

He maintained that if state policing is permitted, people won't be able to oppose governors, and if such is attempted, the individual in question will be arrested and charged with murder or robbery.

According to the video, "If we allow state policing today, nobody will oppose any governor; it's either you die for murder or for armed robbery.".
