You Can't Give A Peanut Of N120M And Then Come And Hijack A Building Worth N900M -Chibuzor Chinyere
Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, General Overseer of Omega Power Ministry (OPM), has contested the compensation offered for his church's demolished property in Lagos state, asserting that the government's offer significantly undervalues the building.
In an interview with Channels TV, the OPM General overseer emphasized the proper channels for such negotiations. "I am the general overseer of Omega Power Ministries. So it's either the church lawyer Roselyne Dokubo or myself that have the authority to negotiate with the government," he stated.
While acknowledging the importance of urban development, the church leader criticized the compensation amount. "Development is good but pay adequate compensation," he insisted. "You can't give a peanut of N120M and then come and hijack a building that is worth N900M."
Chinyere characterized the disparity as "pure wickedness" but expressed belief that Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was unaware of the demolition, stating, "I know that his Excellency Governor Sanwo-Olu doesn't know about this demolition."
The Head of Corporate Communications on Lamata, Mr Kola Ojelabi insisted that the compensation given to the church reflects the value of the building and the land, He said, ''All land belong to government anywhere. and so since the government has revoked the land, we are paying for the property on the land. we have not had any issue like this since we started all our transport projects. so I believe the amount that we offered which is 123 million Naira is just enough for the property we are acquiring for our transport project.''
