Ukraine Grateful as Israel Allegedly Offers Seized Russian Weapons for Defense In War Against Russia
According to the report from Ukraine's Pravda, Sharren Haskel, Israel’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, has proposed transferring Russian-made weapons captured by the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) to Ukraine.
The proposal was made during a meeting with Yevhen Korniichuk, Ukraine’s Ambassador to Israel, on 21 January.
Ukraine’s Embassy in Israel confirmed the offer through a Facebook post, quoting the ambassador’s gratitude:
"During the meeting, the ambassador expressed his gratitude to the deputy minister for her proposal to transfer to Ukraine Russian-made weapons seized by the IDF in Lebanon or elsewhere from Israel's enemies. It was noted that this initiative represents an important step in recognising the common threats faced by both countries."
The Ukrainian side expressed hope for a positive resolution, highlighting the significance of this gesture in strengthening ties between the two nations.
The discussion also touched on shared security concerns, including the growing military cooperation between Iran and Russia.
Both officials recognised this alliance as a direct threat to the national security of Ukraine and Israel, further underscoring the importance of military and diplomatic collaboration.
Israel’s proposal signals a strong gesture of solidarity with Ukraine as both nations face mounting threats from common adversaries.
