The governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has spoken out against the peace pact he inked in March, stating that some details require more explanation.

The Daily Trust reports that Governor Fubara highlighted the reason for his agreement by mentioning his prior connection to the parties involved, whom he had helped before becoming governor. Governor Fubara is hopeful for future reconciliation, despite previous conflicts. It must be made clear that the gang posing as assembly members does not exist, as Governor Fubara pointed out.


His acknowledgment and approval were prerequisites to their legitimacy and actions, he stressed. By making this public proclamation, Governor Fubara has once again shown his determination to keep the peace in Rivers State. The governor's explanation elucidates the complex dynamics and nuances of the peace agreement.


By bringing up the matter of the supposed assembly members, Governor Fubara underscored the importance of clearing the air and being open about the state's administrative systems. The reason these people were visiting Fubara and spending time in her home led her to accept the peace pact, she explained. This is a group of folks that I have assisted in various capacities long before I became governor.


I think we can still find common ground and work together, even though we may disagree at times. It was for that reason why I did it. However, I feel the need to remark on this matter now in order for them to realise that they do not exist. I gave them permission to exist and do what they have been doing. They are not here if I can not identify them. I could not agree more.
