Three cultists on their way to initiation ground found with hard drugs, bullet, axe, others

According to a statement by the Anambra State Police Command on Sunday, February 2, 2025, three young men said to belong to the Black Axe Confraternity were arrested by men of the command while they were on their way to initiation ground.

The state police command disclosed this in a statement posted on its Facebook wall by its Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, on Sunday night, saying the three men, Chidera Nwochia, aged 20 years; Chizurumu Elvis, aged 23 years and Kosisochukwu Obiechina, aged 21 years, were arrested by operatives attached to the Awgbu Divisional headquarters.

The arrested cultists, as posted by the state police command today.

According to the command, the operatives, who were on what it described as "security screening operations,' intercepted a tricycle which they boarded at Eke Awgbu junction on Saturday night.

The command wrote: "During the search on them, one 7.62mm live ammunition, one axe, a gallon of substance suspected to be hard drugs, a local pot, white and red clothes with NBM and Number 7 inscriptions on them, some pieces of red and white clothes and candles were found with them."

The command added that "during their interrogation, they confessed that they were members of the Black Axe Confraternity and were on their way to their initiation ground."

They were said to have given more useful information to the police operatives and they are expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
