The turmoil in our party is not accidental, it’s a well-thought-out strategy by the APC: Adeyemi
According to Punch, the internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is not a mere coincidence but a calculated move by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to weaken the opposition party ahead of the 2027 presidential elections, according to the PDP Integrity Coalition. This faction within the PDP claims that the APC has deliberately instigated discord within their party to destabilize it.
During a press briefing in Abuja, the group’s spokesperson, Hon. John Adeyemi, accused the APC of using its influence to manipulate certain members within the PDP to create division. “The turmoil in our party is not accidental; it’s a well-thought-out strategy by the APC to disrupt us before the 2027 elections,” Adeyemi asserted. He further pointed out that some members of the PDP were acting as agents for the ruling party, sowing confusion and weakening the party’s internal structure.
The coalition went on to claim that the APC was offering financial incentives and political promises to infiltrate the PDP’s leadership and fuel internal conflict. “We have evidence that some of our members have been bought off. These individuals are working closely with APC leaders to maintain the division within the PDP,” Adeyemi revealed. He vowed to expose these individuals in due course.
In response, the APC dismissed the allegations as unfounded. Alhaji Musa Garba, the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, described the accusations as "baseless" and a diversion from the PDP’s internal issues.
The PDP Integrity Coalition urged party members to remain focused on their ultimate goal of reclaiming power in 2027, instead of getting distracted by internal disputes. Analysts believe that unity will be key for the PDP if it hopes to pose a significant challenge to the APC in the upcoming election as reported by Punch.
