In a recent video shared on Voice TV Nigeria, a political group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of orchestrating internal divisions within the opposition party to weaken its chances ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Friday, the group, identified as the PDP Integrity Coalition, claimed that certain elements within the party were being influenced by the APC to create instability.
"It has become clear that the crisis within our party is not organic but a well-planned strategy by the APC to destabilize us before the 2027 elections," said the group's spokesperson, Hon. John Adeyemi. "Some so-called PDP members are nothing but agents of the ruling party, working to create confusion and weaken our structure."
The group further alleged that the APC was using financial inducements and political promises to infiltrate the PDP leadership and manipulate internal conflicts.
"We have evidence that some of our members have been compromised. These individuals are working behind the scenes with APC leaders to ensure that the PDP remains divided," Adeyemi continued. "They are the masquerades behind the chaos, but we will unmask them soon."
The PDP Integrity Coalition urged party members to remain united and resist any attempts to undermine the party’s democratic process.
"Our focus should be on reclaiming power in 2027, not internal fights that only serve the interests of our opponents," another member, Chief Bola Nwankwo, emphasized.
Meanwhile, the APC has denied these allegations. In a brief statement, APC National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Musa Garba, dismissed the claims as “baseless and a desperate attempt to cover up PDP’s self-inflicted troubles.”
As the battle for 2027 begins to take shape, political observers believe that both parties will intensify their strategies, making unity a key factor for the PDP if it hopes to challenge the APC at the polls.
