Fast rising Nigerian defender, Sopuruchukwu Bruno Onyemaechi, made a dream debut for Nigeria during their 6-0 thrashing of Sao Tome and Principe in an AFCON qualifiers fixture played yesterday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, Nigeria.

The Boavista Futebol Clube star had a brilliant performance for the Portuguese based side last season and has continued to build on his game this campaign.

This earned him a call up by Coach Jose Peseiro and his performance on the night is something the hard tackling defender said more should be expected.

Onyemaechi said: “No, I couldn’t have imagined it. Uyo last night, I still remember still,, it was a very special night and a dream come true to make my debut infront of thousands of Supporter's at the Nest of Champions"

"Now it is another dream come true to make my debut for Nigeria and, hopefully, it can be the first of many"

“The game was quite different and the intensity was high. Obviously, I had to get used to my new team-mates, but I grew in confidence as the game went on"

"I’m happy with the performance. There are a few things I can improve, but I’ll take confidence from this because it is always a special moment to play for my country"

“Putting the shirt on was a very special moment. When I put it on before the game I remembered all the times I put it on casually as a young boy and this one was just different, so special. To play at Nest of Champions"

Bruno has continued to show great quality arriving from CD Fereinse and has continued to blossom as he attracted lots of offers from top Clubsides during the just concluded transfer window.
